Cambodia Targets Russian Tourism Market Expansion in Late 2026 and 2027

Cambodia has launched a new initiative to increase the number of Russian tourists visiting the country, with a strategic focus on the period between late 2026 and 2027. Tourism Minister Huot Hak announced the campaign, titled the Cambodia Tourism Roadshow to Russia, during an event held at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters in Phnom Penh.

The roadshow aims to promote Cambodia as a primary travel destination, foster stronger partnerships within the private sector, and explore the potential for establishing direct air connectivity between the two nations. Minister Hak emphasized that Russia remains a priority market for Cambodia, requiring a dedicated strategic approach to diversify and strengthen the country’s international tourism sector.

More than 200 people attended the launch, including Russian Ambassador to Cambodia Anatoly Vasilyevich Borovik, government officials, tourism industry representatives, and members of the media. Minister Hak encouraged local tourism operators to take a proactive role in marketing the country to Russian travelers rather than relying on organic interest.

The initiative aligns with the broader tourism strategy of the Royal Government and recommendations provided by Prime Minister Hun Manet. Minister Hak noted that the campaign is intended to create new opportunities for trade and investment while deepening the long-standing cooperation between the two countries. Cambodia and Russia established diplomatic relations in 1956, and this year marks the 70th anniversary of that partnership.
