A chilling discovery has been made in Arouca, stirring up concerns about an ongoing missing person case. Burnt human remains, missing several critical parts including the skull, hands and feet, were found in a remote ravine near Five Rivers. The remains were discovered on Sunday, April 26th by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Captain Vallence Rambharat.
The search was conducted in the vicinity of a stony watercourse, approximately 500 feet from the home of the missing man, Ezekiel John. After receiving the alert at around 3:40pm, police were led to a site off Zircon Circular in Bon Air West, Arouca. The search team ventured a quarter mile off the roadway into a natural drainage area where they discovered the partially burnt skeletal remains.
Further searches of the surrounding area led to an even more disturbing find — a fire pit located in a nearby ravine. Investigators believe this fire pit may have been used to burn the body, with the remaining unburnt parts later concealed in the watercourse.
The District Medical Officer ordered the removal of the remains to the Forensic Science Centre for further examination. The remains were subsequently transported by a funeral service under police escort. The Region 3 Homicide Bureau has since launched a full probe into the matter. Authorities say that DNA testing will be critical in determining whether the remains belong to the missing man, Ezekiel John.
