Burglars make off with nearly $17,000 in tools from San Juan business

Police are investigating a burglary at SCL Trinidad Limited in San Juan, where thieves made off with nearly $17,000 worth of tools and equipment. The incident occurred between the late afternoon of Monday, July 20, and the early morning of Tuesday, July 21.

According to reports, an employee secured the business and left at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Monday. When he returned just after 6:15 a.m. the following day, colleagues informed him that the premises appeared to have been broken into.

A search of the compound revealed that the barbed wire along the top of the perimeter wall had been cut and pulled back, leading investigators to believe the intruders entered through the secured boundary. Further checks found that a storage cabinet inside the welding shed had been pried open.

Missing items include two angle grinders, a chop saw, a MIG welding machine, three rolls of welding wire, a hammer drill, and a rotary hammer drill kit. The stolen tools and equipment are valued at approximately $16,964.40.

Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
