Bridge simulators ‘a game changes’ for university’s Maritime Academy

**University of Gibraltar Opens Maritime Academy Simulation Centre**

The University of Gibraltar officially opened its Maritime Academy Simulation Centre on Monday morning. The new facility features two state‑of‑the‑art bridge simulators that will be used for training students in realistic ship‑handling scenarios.

The simulators were financed by industry partners Peninsula Hercules Tanker Management and Boluda Towage, each contributing £200,000. When in use, the two simulators are paired so that a student can observe the operations of a second vessel, providing a more comprehensive learning experience.

The opening ceremony marked a significant milestone for the university’s maritime education program, which aims to enhance practical training for future maritime professionals.
