The civil society of the Baswagha-Madiwe groupement in the Beni territory has issued an urgent warning regarding the deteriorating condition of the Luolo Bridge. The alert, issued on Saturday, September 19, 2026, highlights that the structure is at risk of collapse.
The bridge serves as a critical transit point for several localities situated approximately 60 kilometers west of the city of Beni. It is considered essential for the movement of people and goods, as well as for providing access to basic social services in the region.
Local representatives stated that the infrastructure requires immediate intervention to prevent a complete disruption of traffic. This concern arises as the school year enters its third week in the Baswagha-Madiwe groupement, a region currently navigating ongoing security challenges and health surveillance efforts related to the Ebola virus.
