A woman from Belmont fell victim to a robbery right outside her home on Monday evening, in an event described by police as a swift snatch-and-run incident. The incident, which took place around 5:58 p.m. on April 13, 2026, began when the victim was opening the front gate of her residence. It was then that she was approached by a man who, without any warning, snatched gold items right from her hand.
The stolen jewellery is estimated to be worth a significant sum, including a gold hand band valued at $4,000 and a gold flat coco-head bracelet valued at $15,000. The suspect is described as a man of African descent, with a brown complexion, standing at approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and of a strong build. He was reportedly wearing an orange jersey, black three-quarter pants, and a white hat.
Immediately following the robbery, the assailant made his escape on foot. He was seen running east along Cadiz Street before making a turn south onto Archer Street.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with PC Durity at the helm.
