Bell AI data centre expansion in Sask. announced at investment summit

Bell Canada announced that it will quadruple the size of its planned data‑centre project in Saskatchewan at Canada’s first investment summit in Toronto on Monday.

Prime Minister Mark Carney and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said the expansion is expected to bring in more than $50 billion in capital investment, making it the largest sovereign artificial‑intelligence infrastructure network in Canada and the largest capital investment in Saskatchewan’s history.

The project will increase the data‑centre’s capacity to 1.2 gigawatts. Bell CEO Mirko Bibic noted that the original 300‑megawatt facility, announced in March, was already the largest data‑centre announced in Canada.

Construction is underway, with structural frames erected for three buildings and foundations poured for a fourth. Work is also progressing on the power and cooling infrastructure.
