Belgian workers discover $10.4 million gold stash during sewer works.

Construction workers carrying out sewer works in Belgium made an extraordinary discovery after uncovering a hidden cache of gold estimated to be worth about US$10.4 million.

The discovery was made in Sint-Gillis-Dendermonde, where workers reportedly uncovered 49 gold bars, each weighing approximately one kilogram, along with a large collection of gold coins.

Authorities were immediately contacted, and police secured the valuable haul. The gold was subsequently placed in secure government storage while investigators began working to determine where it came from and who legally owns it.

The discovery was made on property connected to a former brewery, raising questions about how long the gold had been hidden there and why such a valuable collection was buried.

There has been speculation about possible links between the treasure and people historically associated with the property, but authorities have not established the gold’s ownership or confirmed its origins.
