Trinidad and Tobago Braces for Adverse Weather with Thunderstorm and Flooding Risks

Residents of Trinidad, Tobago, and the Windward Islands are advised to be cautious as an Adverse Weather Alert at Yellow Level has been issued for today, August 15, 2026. Meteorologist Tigahna Bacchus has forecast partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with periods of showers or rain across several areas. There is a medium, 60% chance of isolated thunderstorms during the day.

This weather alert brings with it the risk of gusty winds exceeding 50 km/hr, which could lead to street or flash flooding in areas affected by heavy showers or thunderstorms. Residents should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their property, especially in flood-prone zones.

The weather is expected to gradually settle overnight, although a few isolated showers may linger. The temperatures last night were recorded at 25.1°C in Piarco and 25.8°C in Crown Point, with a forecast maximum of 31°C for today.

Meanwhile, the remainder of the Lesser Antilles is expected to experience fair to partly cloudy conditions with a few intervals of showers. While these areas are not under the same alert as Trinidad and Tobago, residents should still be aware of any weather changes.

Stay tuned to local news and weather updates for the latest information and heed any warnings or instructions from local authorities. Your safety is the top priority during adverse weather conditions.
