Barbados Community College (BCC) held a meeting with parents following a series of student altercations that occurred on the Eyrie, Howell’s Cross Road campus around lunchtime today. Security reports indicate that no one was seriously injured. One student sustained a grazed knee after falling during the incident. Principal Annette Alleyne said the college had already reached out to the parents of the students involved. She emphasized the need for a “whole of country” approach to address violence, noting that the problems affecting institutions such as BCC are not confined to the campus. Alleyne added that the college remains generally safe and that security‑led staff are taking all reasonable measures to protect everyone on campus. The administration thanked security personnel and other staff members for their swift actions in breaking up the altercations. (BA)
