In Gurudaspur, a mobile court fined a local butcher for selling meat from a sick cow. On Monday, a raid was carried out in the Nuzorpur market of Gurudaspur upazila. The operation was led by the upazila’s assistant commissioner (land), Asadul Islam, with the upazila livestock officer Kaniz Fatema in attendance. According to the upazila administration, the 60‑year‑old butcher Saiful Islam had slaughtered a cow that was ill and sold the meat without conducting a health inspection. Based on complaints from local residents, the mobile court imposed a fine of 10,000 taka on Saiful Islam. The judge, also named Asadul Islam, noted that the accused admitted his wrongdoing. The meat seized during the raid was destroyed.
