Two people were killed and 20 others were injured following a series of drone strikes in El-Obeid, North Kordofan, on Sunday. The attacks, which occurred between dawn and midday, targeted several residential neighborhoods, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to private and public property.
The Sudan Doctors Network issued a statement on Sunday confirming the casualties. The organization characterized the use of drones against residential areas as a continuation of ongoing violations by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against civilians. According to the network, these actions exacerbate the humanitarian and health crisis in the city and violate international laws prohibiting attacks on civilian infrastructure.
In its statement, the Sudan Doctors Network called upon the international community and human rights organizations to condemn the drone strikes. The group further urged international bodies to pressure the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces to cease targeting civilians and to implement measures to ensure the protection of the local population and civilian facilities.
