Emilio van der Linde, a young Aruban man who suffered a life-altering injury during the New Year’s holiday, is scheduled to return to Aruba this Thursday, September 24, at 2:15 PM. Van der Linde was traveling to work when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver, an incident that resulted in the loss of his leg.
Following the accident, the Aruba Shriners Club provided support to facilitate van der Linde’s medical care. On June 15, he traveled to the United States to receive a prosthetic limb and physical therapy at the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Texas. These medical services were provided at no cost to van der Linde or his family.
According to the Aruba Shriners Club, van der Linde has been making rapid progress in his recovery and his efforts to walk with his new prosthetic. The organization has issued an invitation to the public to welcome him home at the airport upon his arrival on Thursday afternoon.
