Albania’s Largest Protests in Decades Demand Prime Minister’s Resignation

Mass Protests Rock Albania Amid Corruption Allegations

Albania is experiencing some of its largest public demonstrations in decades as tens of thousands of citizens continue to take to the streets demanding greater government accountability and action against corruption.

Reports indicate that more than 100,000 people have participated in the protests, which began in opposition to a proposed luxury resort development reportedly linked to Ivanka Trump. What started as a localized dispute has since evolved into a broader movement focused on concerns over corruption, transparency, and political leadership.

Demonstrators are calling for sweeping reforms and have demanded the resignation of the country’s prime minister, arguing that corruption has undermined public trust and hindered national development.

The movement has gained momentum over the past several weeks, with protests continuing for more than 23 consecutive days. Organizers say the demonstrations reflect growing frustration among citizens who believe stronger measures are needed to address issues of governance and accountability.

Notably, members of the Albanian diaspora have reportedly returned to the country to participate in the protests, highlighting the widespread concern surrounding the issues being raised by demonstrators.

As crowds continue to gather in cities across Albania, the unfolding situation has drawn international attention and placed increased pressure on political leaders to respond to the concerns being voiced by protesters.

With no immediate resolution in sight, the demonstrations have become a powerful symbol of public dissatisfaction and a growing demand for political change.
