50-Year-Old Man Arrested in Caroni After Violent Robbery Involving $1,000 Theft

A 50-year-old man was apprehended in Caroni after a robbery with violence was reported on Monday, 10th August, 2026. The incident occurred around 2:05 p.m. when a 53-year-old proprietor was approached by two men while she was in her husband’s vehicle along Caroni South Bank Road.

The assailants, who exited a red Hyundai vehicle, demanded money from the victim. In a state of fear, she surrendered a small white envelope containing $1,000 in local currency. The suspects then fled the scene, heading east along Caroni South Bank Road.

Officers from the Caroni Criminal Investigations Department (CID) promptly arrived at the scene to begin their investigations. Acting Corporal Prince and Police Constable Solomon, stationed at the Las Lomas Police Post, received crucial information that led them to Savery Road, Las Lomas.

The investigation bore fruit when the officers located a red Hyundai Elantra and arrested a suspect, identified as a 50-year-old resident of Newlands Village, Guayaguayare. The suspect was taken to the Caroni Police Station for further questioning.
