In a strategic crackdown on illegal activities, a 41-year-old man was arrested in Tobago following a coordinated police operation. The operation, which took place in the Crown Point Police Station District, was a joint effort by the Tobago Divisional Task Force, Gang Intelligence Unit, and Canine Unit.
Authorities conducted the operation between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Acting on intelligence, officers targeted an area on Feeder Road, Canaan, Tobago, where they discovered a dilapidated shed. Upon searching the shed, officers seized a grey plastic and metal firearm, loaded with four rounds of .38 ammunition, as well as a magazine containing eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
In addition to the weapons, law enforcement found narcotics, specifically 200 grams of cannabis, packaged in pink and grey plastic packets. Officers also confiscated three digital scales, a vacuum sealer, and wrapping paper, which are commonly used in the packaging and distribution of illegal substances.
The operation was meticulously planned and directed by ACP Singh and Snr. Supt. Kirk, with on-the-ground leadership from ASP Ag. Bacchus, Insp. Mohammed, and Ag. Insp. Stewart. The police emphasized that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities in the region and maintain public safety.
The arrest and seizure underscore the importance of intelligence-led policing in addressing crime and ensuring the security of communities in Tobago.
