A dramatic rescue operation unfolded in Los Angeles on Wednesday night as thirty-one workers trapped in a collapsed underground tunnel were safely brought to the surface. The incident occurred approximately five miles from the tunnel’s only entry and exit point, at a depth of about 400 feet. Reports suggest that the workers were able to navigate a 12- to 15-foot-high mound of loose soil to reach their colleagues, who were not trapped, for assistance.
