An 18-year-old man from Sangre Grande is slated to appear in court today to respond to three criminal charges, with the latest being home invasion. The accused, a resident of Damarie Hill, was apprehended by locals from Vega de Oropouche. He, along with two masked accomplices, had reportedly confronted a man at his home on Rampersad Trace on January 23. The homeowner managed to fight back, revealing the identity of one of the robbers whose mask came off. The criminals fled but were pursued by villagers who captured and detained one of them until the police arrived. The apprehended suspect was taken to Sangre Grande Hospital for treatment following the scuffle. Despite attempts to get his statement on the incident, he has reportedly refused to cooperate. The suspect was charged with home invasion on Sunday, and with robbery and housebreaking related to previous incidents.
