اعتقال نحو 100 شخص في برشلونة بعد أعمال شغب خلال مسيرة مناهضة للنظام

In the early hours of Saturday evening, authorities in Barcelona arrested nearly 100 people following a protest that turned into a riot. The demonstrators, many of whom were masked, marched through the city’s central Plaça de Catalunya, looted shops, and set fire to street facilities. Interior Minister of Catalonia, Núria Borrell, said that about 25 % of those detained were from the region’s capital. She added that more than 30 fires were ignited and 14 stores were vandalised or looted in an area of the city that is a popular weekend destination for tourists and shoppers, according to Reuters. Social‑media posts had called for participation in a “anti‑regime” movement and used the slogan “Lisiè Indigène,” a phrase that had been employed to rally students during recent protests in France. Video footage circulating online shows people trapped inside shops, including the “El Corte Inglés” department store, which had closed its doors to prevent looting. Other posts depict masked protesters in black clothing breaking windows and taking merchandise, with some online viewers encouraging the acts. Barcelona’s mayor, Jaume Collboni, stated that the acts of vandalism would not go unpunished. He warned that legal consequences would be imposed on the parents of any minors involved.
