10% Increase for Public Officers Approved

The Public Service Association (PSA) and the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) have agreed on a 10% salary and allowance increase for public officers. The increment is scheduled as follows: 1%,1%,1% for 2014–2016 and 1%,1%,5% for 2017–2019. Additionally, Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) has been consolidated for both periods. The revised allowances include meal, travelling, housing and transfer, clothing and laundry, motor vehicle loan, CNG kit purchase/installation, and eligibility for acquisition of light goods vehicles. Discussions are still ongoing regarding outstanding allowances and salary arrears. A preliminary review has begun on possible home allocations for public officers by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). The CPO has emphasized the need for enhanced professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency in public service.
