President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that Russia has carried out a large-scale aerial campaign against Ukraine over the past week. According to a statement posted by the president on Facebook and reported by Ukrinform, Russian forces launched roughly 1,600 guided bombs, 48 missiles of various types—including ballistic—and about 2,300 attack drones. Zelensky said the attacks have caused widespread casualties, noting that “almost every day there are deaths and injuries from these minor strikes.” He cited specific incidents that occurred during the week: In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian shelling killed four people and injured 22, including an 11‑year‑old girl. A Russian drone struck a residential building in Vinnytsia, injuring six people. In Kharkiv, the first strike hit a hypermarket, and a second strike targeted emergency services that had arrived at the scene, injuring firefighters. During the night, Russian forces also struck thermal power plants, substations, a salt mine, grain depots, a shopping centre, and a post terminal, affecting nine regions. In his remarks, Zelensky called for the removal of restrictions on shipments of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air‑defence system, which have been approved by European partners. He emphasized that continued support for Ukraine’s air force and anti‑drone capabilities is essential, especially before the winter months, to save lives. Zelensky framed the attacks as a response to diplomatic efforts and the process of de‑isolation, urging that support for those defending Ukraine’s sovereignty must not be delayed. The president’s statements were relayed by Ukrinform.
