Young Zion Rewarded After Honest Act Touches Hearts
Young Zion of Sangre Grande Government Primary School was all smiles today after receiving recognition from several well-wishers who were inspired by his recent act of honesty.
Last week, the young student found TT$120 and handed it over to his school’s office rather than keeping it for himself. The story, which was later shared by TG News, quickly resonated with many people who praised Zion for doing the right thing.
Following the publication, several individuals reached out to TG News asking how they could offer encouragement and support to the young student. After discussions with Zion’s parents and school principal, a follow-up visit was arranged to highlight those who wished to recognize his honesty.
During today’s visit, Zion was presented with a brand-new pair of school shoes and support from well-wishers who wished to remain anonymous. While he never expected anything in return for his actions, the kindness shown to him left both him and his family deeply touched.
His mother admitted that when she first heard there was a video involving Zion, she became a little concerned.
“When I saw the video, I was wondering what Zion do now,” she said with a laugh, explaining that her son can sometimes be mischievous.
However, her worries quickly disappeared when she realized the video was highlighting something positive. Instead of being called out for mischief, Zion was being recognized for an act of honesty that had touched the hearts of many.
The proud mother said she was pleasantly surprised to see her son receiving praise and recognition for doing the right thing.
During the visit, Zion also spoke about his dreams for the future, sharing that he hopes to become an artist one day. He said he plans to use some of the support he received to purchase art supplies and continue developing his creativity.
Principal Lisa Wattley, who assumed leadership of the school approximately three months ago, said she has been encouraging students to make positive choices and understand that good actions can lead to positive outcomes.
Wattley explained that part of her vision is to foster a culture of honesty, respect and responsibility among students while helping to reshape perceptions of the school through positive examples and achievements.
She said Zion’s actions reflected the values the school continues to promote and hopes his example will inspire other students to always do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
For Zion, returning the money was simply the right thing to do. He never asked for recognition or reward. Yet his decision sparked a chain reaction of kindness and encouragement, proving that honesty and good character still matter.
What began with a found TT$120 became something much bigger — a reminder that even the simplest acts of integrity can inspire others and leave a lasting impact.
