A 28-year-old veterinarian was found unresponsive at her El Socorro home last week, prompting an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and members of the wider veterinary community.

The deceased has been identified as Dr. Amanda Zara Ali.

According to available information, Dr. Ali was discovered unresponsive on a bed at her residence by her boyfriend at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She was taken to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the cause of death, and no further official details surrounding the circumstances of her passing have been released.

In a statement shared on Facebook last Friday, the Trinidad and Tobago Veterinary Association (TTVA) expressed deep sadness over the loss of its colleague.

“On behalf of the Executive and the wider Trinidad and Tobago Veterinary Association (TTVA), we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, classmates, clients, and all those whose lives she touched. We know this loss will be felt by many across our profession,” the statement said.

The association also encouraged members of the veterinary community to support one another during this difficult time and advised that anyone affected by the loss who may need assistance accessing support resources should contact the TTVA.

TTVA President Dr. Shivana Beharry also noted that Dr. Ali’s funeral was scheduled to take place at the Charlieville Masjid.

Dr. Ali’s passing has saddened many within the profession, with colleagues remembering her as part of Trinidad and Tobago’s veterinary community.

Police inquiries are continuing, and no official determination regarding the cause of death has been announced.
