An 18-year-old student and dancer from Gasparillo has died after suddenly becoming seriously ill while spending time at a residence in Ben Lomond Village.
The deceased has been identified as **Jedda Beharry, 18, of Happy Hill, Gasparillo**, who was a student at SITAL.
According to police reports, at approximately 10:40 p.m. on August 14, Beharry was at the Ben Lomond residence with her 18-year-old boyfriend when she suddenly began experiencing chest pains and difficulty breathing.
Her boyfriend attempted to assist her and alerted other family members at the residence, who also tried to render assistance as her condition deteriorated.
Beharry was subsequently taken by private vehicle to the San Fernando General Hospital, where she was attended to by medical personnel. She was later pronounced dead.
Officers attached to the Gasparillo Police Station were notified of the death and have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s sudden passing.
At this stage, authorities have not publicly established what caused Beharry to become ill, and the cause of death remains undetermined.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday, August 17, and is expected to assist investigators in determining the cause of her death.
Beharry’s sudden passing has brought an abrupt end to the life of a young student and dancer at just 18 years old, as relatives, friends and those who knew her await answers surrounding her death.
