Yemen Armed Forces reported that a series of 1,732 operations carried out in the current offensive against the Houthi movement resulted in the neutralization of more than 900 Houthi fighters and the destruction or disabling of over 287 military vehicles. The statement was issued by Colonel Macid Abdullah al‑Nezili, spokesperson for the Yemen Armed Forces. In a briefing, al‑Nezili said the operations were conducted in parallel with the army’s advances along the assault axes as part of the “Yemen Shafaa” campaign. He added that the attacks were carried out with fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, artillery and rocket launchers, targeting Houthi positions, command‑and‑control centers, observation posts, munitions depots and other high‑value military targets. According to al‑Nezili, the strikes silenced Houthi fire sources, disrupted their command‑and‑control systems and cut supply lines. He emphasized that the offensive would continue as planned, with Yemeni forces pressing on the militia’s defensive lines. No details were provided about the specific locations or time frame of the operations, and the Houthi movement has not yet issued a response. President Council President Reşad Mohammed el‑Uleymi released a video on state television on 5 October in which he announced that the government had launched extensive military operations to reclaim territory under Houthi control and to reassert state sovereignty across the country. The conflict began after the Houthi movement seized the capital Sana’a and several provinces in September 2014. A Saudi‑led coalition intervened in March 2015 to support the internationally recognized Yemeni government. After a ceasefire in April 2022, fighting intensified again in September, with the Houthis capturing strategic locations such as the city of El‑Maha in Hudaydah and Taiz provinces and advancing toward Meyyun Island at the Bab al‑Mandab Strait.
