Years of hustle culminate in Gio’s fourth successful Soup Deli opening.

From Taxi Driver to Four Soup Delis: Gio’s Entrepreneurial Journey Inspires Thousands

What started with a taxi and a dream has grown into one of Trinidad and Tobago’s inspiring entrepreneurial success stories.

Gio, the businessman behind the Gio Designs brand, has officially opened the fourth location of Gio’s Soup Deli in Tunapuna, marking another major milestone in a journey that has unfolded publicly for thousands of followers on social media.

Long before becoming known for his popular soup delis, Gio earned a living as a taxi driver while pursuing his dream of building a business of his own. He spent years driving across Trinidad selling branded clothing under the Gio Designs name, often travelling from community to community with merchandise in his vehicle. Throughout that journey, he used social media to document the realities of entrepreneurship, sharing the long days on the road, interactions with customers, personal setbacks and the small victories that kept him motivated.

Those videos and posts resonated with many aspiring entrepreneurs, who watched his progress in real time as he transformed determination into opportunity.

As his customer base grew, so did his ambitions. Gio Designs expanded beyond branded clothing into graphic design, branding and promotional services before evolving into a wider portfolio of businesses. Today, the brand includes Gio’s Soup Deli, Gio’s Express Car Wash, Gio’s Car Rental & Taxi Service and other business ventures, reflecting Gio’s philosophy of building “brick by brick.”

The newest chapter in that journey came with the opening of the Tunapuna Soup Deli, the fourth location in the growing food business. Customers began lining up outside before the doors opened, eager to support the latest addition to the expanding brand. The strong turnout highlighted the loyal following Gio has cultivated over the years.

During the opening ceremony, Gio took the opportunity to thank the people who stood by him throughout the journey.

“I don’t really have much to say. I just want to say thanks to all my employees, the ones who stuck with me when the picture was very blurry,” he said while welcoming customers into the new establishment.

The atmosphere was one of celebration, with supporters congratulating Gio on another achievement. One customer proudly announced they were the first to be served at the Tunapuna branch, while others gathered to celebrate the opening of a business many have watched grow from humble beginnings.

For many, Gio’s story represents more than business success. It is a testament to perseverance, consistency and the willingness to keep moving forward despite challenges. From driving a taxi and selling branded clothing across Trinidad to building multiple businesses and opening four Soup Deli locations, his journey continues to inspire countless people chasing their own entrepreneurial dreams.

With the Tunapuna location now officially open, Gio’s latest achievement stands as another reminder that success is often built through years of hard work, resilience and an unwavering belief in one’s vision.
