**Kremlin Aide Indicates Possible Trilateral Meeting of Xi, Trump and Putin at APEC 2024**
*Beijing, 2 September 2026* – A senior Russian official told state television on Tuesday that a three‑way meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could be arranged during the upcoming Asia‑Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
Yuri Ushakov, a Kremlin aide, confirmed that the prospect of a trilateral discussion “was discussed” at the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. The APEC leaders’ meeting is scheduled for 18‑19 November 2024 in Shenzhen, a major economic hub in southern China.
If the three heads of state convene, it would mark the fourth occasion this year that President Xi and President Trump could meet, following earlier bilateral engagements earlier in 2024.
President Putin announced in May that he intends to attend the APEC summit. President Trump has not yet confirmed his participation. Kremlin officials indicated that Trump’s decision may be linked to whether President Xi agrees to attend the Group of 20 (G20) summit slated for 14‑15 December 2024 at President Trump’s Doral golf resort in Florida.
Ushakov added, “And if it turns out, as has been said, then the three of them will be able to have a meeting,” suggesting that a joint session would depend on the attendance of all three leaders at the respective gatherings.
No official invitation or confirmation of a trilateral meeting has been issued by the United States, China or Russia at this stage. The possibility remains subject to diplomatic negotiations and the leaders’ final decisions on attendance.
