World’s Oldest Marathon Runner Fauja Singh Dies in Hit-and-Run at 114

Fauja Singh, renowned as the “Turbaned Tornado,” and celebrated as the world’s oldest marathon runner, tragically passed away at the age of 114 due to a hit-and-run incident. On Monday, he was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking near his hometown of Beas in Punjab, India. Despite being rushed to Shrimann Hospital in Jalandhar, Singh succumbed to serious injuries to his head and ribs. Following the incident, local police identified and arrested a suspect after reviewing CCTV footage. A case has been filed against the driver for negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Although Singh continued to compete in marathons well into his centenarian years, he never officially held a Guinness World Record due to the lack of a birth certificate to verify his age.
