Woman Arrested with Cocaine and Cash at Piarco International Airport

In a notable incident this week at Piarco International Airport, a female passenger was arrested while attempting to board a Caribbean Airlines flight to St. Kitts. She was apprehended for possession of cocaine and a considerable amount of cash.

The arrest occurred around 10:55 am on Monday, 6th April, 2026, during a routine security check. A Woman Estate Constable, operating the scanner at the security checkpoint, detected anomalies in the scan of the passenger, a female Trinidadian national from Carenage.

This led to a more thorough physical search of the passenger in a secure search room. During this examination, the officer discovered a pink balloon strapped around the woman’s waist. Inside the balloon were 17 pellets containing a total of 281.5 grammes of cocaine.

Further investigation led to the discovery of US$5,189 and TT$30 in the woman’s carry-on bag. Following these discoveries, the woman was promptly arrested. Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
