A woman from Sangre Grande, aged 29, was apprehended on Friday after allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana into the Golden Grove Prison, Arouca. The incident occurred when the woman visited a man at the External Remand Facility post-lunch. She was seized in the scanner room, with the illicit substance concealed within 76 dates. The drugs, weighing 170 grams, were disguised by being encased in plastic wrap and inserted into pitted dates. The woman now faces drug trafficking charges and is due to appear in court on Monday. The case has been handed over to the Arouca Police Station officers.
