Wilson Joseph, identified as the leader of the Haitian gang 400 Mawozo, reportedly raised a white flag over his residence in an attempt to signal willingness to negotiate with the United Nations. A drone‑captured video shows a white flag flying above a residential complex known as “Lanmo San Jou” in the Dimiso sector of Thomazeau. The footage also depicts solar panels and water storage tanks on the property. According to a letter sent to the United Nations, Joseph claimed that the flag was raised on 20 August 2026 as a gesture of good faith. The letter, dated 1 November 2026, states his intention to open a dialogue with the UN. The organization confirmed receipt of the letter but clarified that accepting it does not constitute endorsement of its contents or recognition of Joseph as a legitimate representative. The flag’s appearance comes amid heightened security operations in Haiti and ongoing clashes between armed groups and international forces.
