Widow Refutes Police Account of Husband’s Death

The widow of Joshua Samaroo, Kaia Sealy, has refuted the official police account of the events that resulted in her husband’s death. She insists that Samaroo was unarmed and non-threatening when police shot him. On the day of the incident, Sealy and Samaroo were running errands when an unexpected interaction with the police occurred in Maloney. Sealy recalls a marked police vehicle approaching them and an officer stepping out with his firearm drawn, which led Samaroo to reverse their car. Sealy maintains that her husband did not possess a weapon and that the police did not clearly issue any instructions before pursuing them. The chase ended when their vehicle lost control, and Samaroo raised his hands in a compliant gesture. Nonetheless, the officers opened fire, and she was struck by bullets. A video by I.A.N News supports her account, showing Samaroo with his hands raised before being shot. Sealy’s assertions contradict the police’s version, which alleges a ‘shoot-out’. She continues to recover from injuries sustained during the incident, while calls for transparency, accountability, and an independent investigation into Samaroo’s death intensify.
