West Indies captain Shai Hope has declared the team’s intention to win the upcoming series against New Zealand as a tribute to cricket legend Sir Garry Sobers.
Speaking ahead of the series, Hope emphasized the motivation that Sir Garry’s legacy provides to the squad. ‘We want to win these games for Sir Garry,’ he said, highlighting the reverence the team holds for the Barbadian icon.
The series is set to be a significant challenge for the West Indies, but Hope’s comments underscore a deeper emotional drive to honor one of the greatest cricketers of all time. Sir Garry Sobers, now in his 80s, remains a towering figure in Caribbean sport.
