Watch: Tens of thousands at Western Wall Plaza for year’s first Selichot service

Tens of Thousands Gather at Western Wall Plaza for First Selichot Service of the Year

The Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem was filled with tens of thousands of worshipers on Saturday night as the traditional Selichot services began, marking the start of the month of Elul.

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Places, led the service, which included heartfelt prayers for unity among the Jewish people, the safety of IDF soldiers and security forces, and the peace and security of Israel.

The Selichot services signal the beginning of the month of Elul, a period of spiritual reflection and preparation for the High Holy Days. The large turnout at the Western Wall Plaza reflected the significance of this event in the Jewish calendar.
