The Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has overtaken the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in the final polling moments ahead of the state election. Political analysts attribute this shift largely to the efforts of the party’s lead candidate and state Minister-President, Manuela Schwesig.
