**Wales Falls Behind UK Nations in Latest PISA Results**
*Wrexham, Wales – 2026‑09‑08* – The most recent Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results, released by the Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD), show that Welsh pupils continue to score below their counterparts in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland across reading, maths and science.
### Participation and Methodology
Around 3,400 15‑year‑olds from Wales took part in the assessment, which tests students’ ability to apply knowledge and skills to real‑world problems. The test is computer‑based, lasts two hours and is accompanied by a learner questionnaire. PISA is conducted every three years.
