According to the speaker, Elda moved several times after having her first child, Carol, before eventually settling with her partner, Agabus. The couple reportedly established a home on a piece of land along the roadside, where their family continued to grow. The tribute described Elda’s life as far from easy. Her family depended heavily on hard work, including fishing, as they sought to provide for their children. Despite the challenges she faced, Elda reportedly remained resilient and later embraced the Seventh-day Adventist faith. The speaker said she was baptised and became an active member of her church community. However, the tone of the eulogy changed dramatically when the speaker began discussing Elda’s later years. She alleged that instead of enjoying peace as her children became adults, Elda experienced severe mistreatment within her household.
