Violent Storms Kill 15, Injure Dozens in Karachi

Violent storms have claimed the lives of at least 15 people and injured dozens more in Karachi, Pakistan. The city, which is the country’s largest, was hit by heavy rains and powerful winds overnight, leading to widespread destruction. The storm started on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, and grew in intensity throughout the night. Residents were urged to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency services confirmed the death toll and reported that over two dozen people were treated for weather-related injuries. The strong winds uprooted trees and disrupted traffic, making emergency response efforts more challenging. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported wind speeds of up to 90 kilometres per hour. Forecasters warn of continued unstable weather conditions, including more rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hailstorms likely to hit Karachi and other parts of Sindh province. Emergency teams nationwide are also dealing with the effects of adverse weather conditions in multiple areas across the country.
