A violent confrontation unfolded in Malabar on the night of July 29th, 2025, following a dispute among neighbors. The incident, which took place around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Kellewan Avenue and Train Line Road, involved a 37-year-old man who, after a heated argument with a female relative and another neighbor, armed himself with a cutlass and charged at 47-year-old Anthony Balkaran. In response to the threat, Balkaran allegedly fired a shotgun at the man, injuring him in the thigh, knees, and lower leg. The victim was subsequently taken to the Arima Health Facility and is currently in stable condition. The police have yet to recover the weapon used in the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing, led by Ag. Cpl Williams with assistance from PC Dookie and WPC Toussaint.
