Venezuelan Woman Denied Bail in Major Human Trafficking Case

A Venezuelan woman, Gabrielis Maibelline Periera Martinez, has been denied bail after being charged with operating a human trafficking ring in Tunapuna. The 22-year-old was formally charged following Operation G-Ride on June 6, 2025, which led to the rescue of several Latin American nationals and the dismantling of a significant trafficking network. Martinez faces multiple charges, including the exploitation of a Latin American female for prostitution, unlawfully confiscating identification documents for trafficking purposes, and child cruelty. The case was presented before Master Rehanna Hosein, who ruled against granting bail, with the next court date set for November 15, 2025. The Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) continues collaborating with partner agencies to support victims and ensure the prosecution of offenders under the Trafficking in Persons Act. The public is urged to report any suspected human trafficking cases confidentially via the CTU Hotline at 800-4CTU.
