Venezuelan Justice Minister Diosdado Cabello expressed a stern warning to Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in response to the country granting the United States military aircraft permission to use local airports. Cabello, who has previously objected to Persad-Bissessar’s support for an expanded US military presence in the Caribbean, voiced his warning during a televised address. He cautioned about potential repercussions if Venezuela was attacked in any way. Cabello emphasized that his warning was meant for the Prime Minister, not the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. This comes after Cabello, who also serves in a senior leadership role in Venezuela’s ruling United Socialist Party, claimed that Trinidad and Tobago was once Venezuelan territory. The Trinidad and Tobago Government has yet to respond to Cabello’s comments.
