**Venezuela and Israel agree to restore consular services**

*Venezuela and Israel announced on Tuesday that they have reached an agreement to re‑establish consular services for their citizens residing in the other country. The move comes 17 years after the two nations severed diplomatic ties in January 2009.*

In a joint statement, the governments of Venezuela and Israel confirmed that the agreement will allow Venezuelan nationals in Israel and Israeli nationals in Venezuela to access consular assistance, including passport renewal, legal aid and emergency services.
