Captain Vallence Rambharat, leader and co-founder of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, has been awarded the Hummingbird Medal Gold for his contribution to national service in Trinidad and Tobago.
Rambharat received the national award from President Christine Kangaloo during the Republic Day National Awards Ceremony at Queen’s Hall in Port of Spain on September 24, 2026.
The honour recognised his loyal, devoted and humane service through the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, which has become known for assisting families and communities during searches, rescues and recovery operations.
Rambharat accepted the award on behalf of the organisation’s 42 volunteer members, highlighting the collective work carried out by the team since its formation in February 2021.
HSRT has participated in more than 500 volunteer search, rescue and recovery operations across Trinidad and Tobago, often responding when people are reported missing or communities require assistance.
The national recognition marks a significant milestone for the volunteer organisation and acknowledges the contribution made by Rambharat and the wider HSRT team through years of unpaid service.
