On September 18, the 517th September meeting of the Fukui Shimbun Political and Economic Discussion Group was held at the Wind Forest Hall of the Fukui Shimbun office in Fukui City.
The event featured a lecture by Kunihiro Arai, president of the travel guide publisher “Chikyuu no Arukikata” (Earth’s Way). Arai titled his talk “Behind the Japanese Version Hit” and discussed the company’s recent turnaround.
Chikyuu no Arukikata had been a single‑business publisher of overseas travel guidebooks. The COVID‑19 pandemic halted international travel worldwide, plunging the company into an unprecedented financial crisis. After transferring its business to the Gakken Group, the company was re‑established as a new entity and began launching a series of new projects.
