Uzbekistan has issued a strong condemnation of an attempted unmanned aerial vehicle attack aimed at the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, officials expressed solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and called for restraint amid rising regional tensions.
The ministry said that any action threatening holy sites was unacceptable and urged all parties to avoid escalation.
The statement was issued on September 17, 2026, and was first reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan.
Uzbekistan’s condemnation comes as the region continues to experience heightened security concerns.
