The Transport and Industrial Workers’ Union (TIWU) has dismissed allegations from the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) that industrial action taken by workers is creating service delays at the Port-of-Spain depot. PTSC had earlier stated that disruptions on the Port-of-Spain to Arima route were due to workers refusing to operate services, shutting down work areas, and initiating “go-slow” actions. However, TIWU president, Shawn Roberts, refuted these claims, stating that the union is not aware of any such industrial action and added that the relationship with PTSC is currently good, with ongoing negotiations. Amidst this, commuters at the City Gate terminal are experiencing long waits and frequent delays, causing frustration, particularly for those who cannot afford alternative transportation and for workers who rely on the bus system for timely commutes.
