Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR) has issued a stark warning that Russian forces have been ordered to intensify drone strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and transport along the front line. According to HUR, the elite Russian ‘Rubikon’ drone unit has received orders to strike gas stations, trucks, buses, and cars in frontline and border regions.
The intelligence update states that the campaign is a response to Ukraine’s own strikes on Russian logistics. HUR says the Russian units will use drones with real-time video feedback, such as Molniya-1, Molniya-2, and Lancet, to identify and destroy targets. Unlike long-range Shahed drones that use preloaded coordinates, these drones allow operators to adjust aim mid-flight.
HUR has urged residents in frontline areas to remain vigilant and take shelter during air-raid alerts, warning that the campaign ‘poses a real threat to the civilian population.’ The agency also noted that Russian forces have accidentally struck their own troops due to poor training, citing an incident where a drone narrowly missed a Russian civilian car.
