U.S., Israel Strike Iran; School Hit, Dozens Dead

On February 28, 2026, a dramatic escalation of tensions occurred as the U.S. and Israel launched a coordinated military offensive against Iran. The major combat operation was a response to Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs and targeted military and leadership sites across Iran, including areas around the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. During this strike, a girls’ elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, was hit resulting in the loss of at least 40 lives, many of whom were children.
