Two Men Arrested in Major Cannabis Trafficking Operation in Port of Spain

In a major crackdown on cannabis trafficking, two men were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation on 3rd July, 2026. The operation, codenamed R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield, was conducted by officers from the Port of Spain and Northern Divisions. The exercise targeted members and associates of a well-known gang and spanned from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The first arrest was made along Observatory Street, Port of Spain, where a man from Febeau Village, San Juan was found in possession of approximately 1.56 kilogrammes of cannabis. The drug haul has an estimated street value of TT$45,000.

In a separate exercise in Production Drive, Sea Lots, another man was apprehended for possession of 277 grams of cannabis. Both men were charged with Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The operation was initiated and led by Senior Superintendent Thom, Superintendent Baird, Superintendent Ramdeen, Assistant Superintendent Cadette, and Inspector Durga. Sergeants Guerra and Sookhoo supervised the operation.
