At about 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, a proprietor of an auto parts shop in New Grant was awakened by a noise and saw three masked men on his premises via CCTV. He raised the alarm and the men fled with two white crocus bags.
Items reported missing included several power tools, vehicular electrical harnesses and an engine tappet cover. The proprietor’s quick response and the CCTV footage were instrumental in identifying the suspects.
Police CID from Princes Town, led by PC Dennis, responded promptly and traced the suspects to Second Branch, Monkey Town, where PC Mahabir and officers of the Southern Operations Unit intercepted a Nissan March. The crocus bags were recovered from the vehicle’s trunk and the two occupants were arrested.
PC Chaitram is continuing enquiries. The Communications Unit released the statement on October 17, 2026, confirming the arrests and recovery of stolen items.
